The NSW War Memorials Register will undergo essential upgrades from 3 July. If you have draft submissions ready, please submit them before 3 July.
Inside Auburn Presbyterian Church is a stained glass window. It is dedicated to Private John Poxon, service number 1805, who served in the First World War. It has a simple design, featuring only text, no imagery. The window is however brightly coloured, with panes of blue, pink, and yellow glass, surrounding the inscription, which is in orange.
Poxon was born in Derby, England, and died of wounds on 28 August 1918 at Proyart, France. While the memorial gives his rank as Gunner, his service records indicate he was a Private. He is also inscribed on the Lidcombe War Memorial, where he lived before enlisting.
