The NSW War Memorials Register will undergo essential upgrades from 3 July. If you have draft submissions ready, please submit them before 3 July.
The memorial is a bronze plaque dedicated to those who served, were wounded or fell from the 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (5RAR). The two emblems of the battalion are positioned at the top of the plaque, above the inscription.
The memorial was designed by Tweed Shire Council and the 5RAR Association. The association was awarded a 'Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grant' by the Department of Veterans' Affairs for the installation of the plaque on 10 February 2010. It was dedicated shortly after on 1 March 2010.
The memorial is located along the Tweed Heads Memorial Walkway in Chris Cunningham Park. It is attached to a lattice frame, set within a garden bed. It is one of a number of plaques commemorating Australian military units and organisations positioned throughout the area.
Chris Cunningham Park is a site of Anzac Day and other commemorative services.
